It’s a good time to be a Dodger fan. Seems every night they take the field, something amazing happens – so often, though, that it’s easy to take for granted. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to create this blog – to celebrate the moments that should have time to be appreciated. Last night, we had plenty of those moments.
The number one thing that can’t be taken for granted is the steady brilliance of Clayton Kershaw. We are spoiled to have a man like that taking the mound every fifth day. Here are just a few reasons why.
Clayton Kershaw has won 10 straight decisions with a 0.94 ERA. Last Dodger to win more than that was Orel Hershiser (11 in 1985).

Clayton Kershaw is 1st pitcher since Greg Maddux ('94-95) w/ a sub-2.00 ERA entering Aug. in consecutive seasons. pic.twitter.com/27HsCFm0CA

Clayton Kershaw's summer has been better than your summer:
Through May: 3-2, 3.67 ERA;
After May: 10-0, 0.89 ERA— Derek Thompson (@DKThomp) August 1, 2014
I mean, seriously. Who does stuff like that? We are watching history with this kid.
In a 2-1 game, there also has to be some great defense. Last night, Dee Gordon put on a show at 2nd to remind us that he’s not only a new player at the plate, but also a legit second baseman! Dee has come a long way, to say the least. This year’s Dee Gordon would slap 2012-13 Dee Gordon in the face and ask what the hell he was thinking. We’ve all been rooting for him to become the player he could be. Now we’re watching that happen and it’s so much fun.
it's a bird!!!! It's a plane!!! It's SUUUUUPER DEE!!!! #HeCanFly @FlashGJr @Dodgers pic.twitter.com/VpiW7eyENR

Dee Gordon stumbles chasing a pop fly behind second base — still makes the basket catch. Reliable glove.

And then you had Yasiel Puig take the whole team on his shoulders and provide the runs for the victory. He just keeps on performing, despite the rest of the world hoping that he fails. I’m just glad the Wild Horse is part of our stable and that he never gets too tame.
Adrian Gonzalez doubles and drives in Yasiel Puig. 1 on 1 out. #Dodgers lead 1-0! LET'S GO DODGERS!!!!!

To read what smarter people have to say about last night’s game, here are a few recaps:
- Possibly my favorite Dodgers Digest wrap up of all time by Chad Moriyama. Since it’s Chad, you know you get glorious gifs!
- Scott Andes does a great recap at Lasorda’s Lair. He takes you through all the key parts of the game, start to finish.
- For more “traditional” coverage, you can see the AP recap on Yahoo.com.
- As always, the amazing pictures from Jon Soo Hoo are a must. Here are the snaps from last night. (If I could have any job in the world, I’d want Jon’s job!)
- And to follow what the fans had to say as we watched the game together, check out the Dodger Social coverage.
Looking forward to the Cubs tonight. See you on Twitter!
